“In the midst of life, we are in death.”

4 stars. Super entertaining. This was my first book by Agatha Christie (I know, shame on me) and I can see why this one is so well loved and is so influential to the genre. Eight people, all total strangers to each other, are invited to a small, isolated island off the coast of Devon, England, by a Mr. and Mrs. Owen. No boat returns to the island and a storm ensues. Before the day ends the first guest dies. In each room there is a copy of an old nursery rhyme ticking off the end of 10 soldiers. The island is called Soldier Island. Ori ...more

And the best part is that everyone gets what they deserve, none of them are what can be called good. Some are more unaware of their crime than others, but they're all definitely morally in the wrong.

I read it in my high school days, and my mind was blown. I still love it for its mystery and plotting after a much deserved re-read. But I'm not going to gush abou
