Striking cover. Fanciful concepts. Worth savouring.

4.5 stars. So creative and wonderful. Colorful and beautiful with so much room for more. This is a really good book. I enjoyed it a lot. It somehow felt to me like a combination of the magic in reading that came from The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins. This cover is GORGEOUS!

And I wanted so desperately to like this book more than I did!!! (insert dramatic sighing) I was on the cusp sooo, sooo, sooo many times, and then it just fell a little flat to me. I thought there was room for growth and more plot potential, but the story lines just didn't quite get there. I just couldn't connect with the characters like I thought I would, and though

Original and engaging

It took me awhile to get entirely involved in the story. But like so many really good reads...it just kept getting more and more interesting. I loved the idea, the strong women and how it just kept unfolding. I am very ready for a sequel!
