A girl grows up in an interesting situation and then slowly learns the magical truth of her guardian, her father, and her herself. It was interesting but I found the main character rather unpersuasive; she took a long time to develop agency (for realistic plot reasons, but I was still impatient), the frame didn't make emotional sense, and I had an allergy to love stories.
