The House in The Cerulean Sea (⭐️ 4/5)
For me, it really came close to being perfect in all sense...

It is based in a world where magical beings live among humans. A case worker is sent to a mysterious orphanage to investigate the treatment of the magical children that reside there by their warden, a charismatic but peculiar man.

I stopped counting how many books like these have I left in the middle. I don't go for the sappy/emotional types usually. This one made me believe that I still have some f

TJ Klune writes the world as it should be: saccharine, kind, respectful, considerate, lovely, hopeful, wonderful, and magical. Why do we want anything other than that?

As someone else said, I checked my library catalog to see if the book was listed in other system libraries as juvenile or young adult - it wasn't but Henning sure would make a great kid's book reader. Then I read about the author's self-professed inspiration, The Sixties Scoop. Why he thought making ...more

I am so sad that I can’t go home to this island and its inhabitants. My heart literally breaks with joy every time I revisit this book. I am but paper. Brittle and thin.

MM, cozy with tough themes, found family, mature mostly average mmcs, slow burn, magical cast

“Hate is loud, but I think you’ll learn it’s because it’s only a few people shouting, desperate to be heard. You might not ever be able to change their minds, but so long as you remember you’re not alone, you will overcome.”
