I am so glad that we got a few chapters of Maggie post-Maybe Someday. It makes me happy that he was never "the bad bad girlfriend that stood in the way." I loved Maggie from the start and I love that she got a happy ending, just like everyone else.

Colleen Hoover is easily, after two books, becoming one of my favourite authors. I was talking to someone earlier today what I like about her and it’s not something I can pinpoint exactly and say “that is what I like about this author” be I am so glad that we got a few chapters of Maggie post-Maybe Someday. Colleen Hoover is easily, after two books, becoming one of my favourite authors. I was talking to someone earlier today what I like about her and it’s not something I can pinpoint exactly and say “that is what I like about this author” because with Hoover, it is everything.

Her characters are always interesting and easy to relate to, her plot is always addicting, her character development is top notch. She is a great author and if her other books are half as good as this one, then she will be in my top 5 favourite authors, easily.

This book starts out with Sydney punching her ex-best friend. Seriously. What a way to start a book. We find out that her ex-best friend and now ex-boyfriend had been sleeping together. I couldn’t help but laugh when it clicked with me that her best friend’s name was Tori and her boyfriend’s name was Hunter. Torii Hunter. Anyway, that’s not anything book related so I’m moving on.

We then find out that Sydney has been sitting on her balcony watching Mystery Man play his guitar every night for the last few weeks. She doesn’t know anything about him except that he can play a guitar beautifully. Little does she know that in a few short weeks she’ll be living with him.

I love all the characters relationships in this book. Sydney and Ridge gave me all the feels. Ridge and Brennan made me happy. Sydney and Brennan made me laugh a lot. Ridge and Maggie made me happy.

The twists in this book that make you want to rip the book apart and use the pages as tissues were what makes this book, and other Hoover books, so enjoyable. You never know when you’re going to get punched in the face with emotion. One page everything can be happiness and roses and the next page you’ll be wanting to eat a whole tub of Ben & Jerry’s while simultaneously hate-watching High School Musical (no? maybe just me.)

If I say I love this book, then I should also say things I wasn’t too thrilled with. 1. There is some slut shaming. This really bothers me because it isn’t needed. On one hand I was mad at Hoover for putting it in there. On the other hand I realized why it’s in there. I would be pretty mad if my best friend was sleeping with my boyfriend too. 2. Sydney seems to be the only “good girl” in the book. Tori? She’s a “slut” and a horrible person. Bridgette? She’s a “bitch” and no one likes being around her. The only other girl that was seen as a good person was Maggie she is not really a focal point of the book that often.

These two things really bothered me and it was hard to look past them, but everything else was very strong and it was an easy 5 star rating for me.

Third time reading this and I've loved it more and more every time. I can't wait to read it a fourth and a fifth and a sixth time.

Hopefully by them, Goodreads finds a way to make books have multiple read dates ...more

We can't help who we fall in love with no matter the situation and that was what happened in this story. Ridge was the music writer who was deaf and Sydney was the girl across the way listening and adding her own song to the music he played. After Sydney finds out what has been going on with her friend and boyfriend. Both MCs become a sort of partner in trying to get the music together but while doing so more becomes of their relationship. ...more

Edit ; The year is 2020 and I just watched a video from someone who read the book recently. I didn't remember how problematic this book was so I changed my rating from 5 stars to 2 stars. I did liked it at the time (ok I loved it) but 5 years later I just can't assume a 5 stars rating anymore.

IT was SO good !!!! Before reading it I was sure I would not love it at all. How wrong was I... I will start with the thing I had a problem with in this book.

IT was SO good !!!! Before reading it I was sure I would not love it at all. How wrong was I... I will start with the thing I had a problem with in this book.
THERE WAS SO MUCH CRYING !!! Sydney always cry in this book and sometimes I didn't even get why she was crying and believe my I cry a lot in my life (I even cry once while watching a duster publicity but that's an other story...)
Now here's the things I LOVED.
1. The relation between Sydney and Ridge. Their conversations were so great! And even when they were not talking they were so awesome together!
2. The songs, I loved being able to hear the songs it's so a great idea! I'm a huge music fan so it was a big turn on for me
3. The fact that we were able to know the thoughts of both of them.
4. The epilogue. I loved it!
I will read other books by Colleen Hoover for sure :)

C'était tellement bon! Avant de lire le livre j'étais certaine que je ne l'aimerais pas. Je me trompais... Je vais commencer avec le problème que j'ai eu dans le livre.
IL Y AVAIT TELLEMENTS DE PLEURS. Sydney pleurait presque sans arrêt et parfois je ne comprenais même pas pourquoi et croyez moi je pleure beaucoup (J'ai même déjà pleuré durant une publicité de plumeau mais c'est une autre histoire...)
Maintenant voici les choses que j'ai ADORÉ.
1. La relation entre Sydney et Ridge. Leurs conversations étaient géniales et même lorsqu'ils ne parlaient pas ils étaient super ensemble.
2. Les chansons. J'ai adoré pouvoir écouter les chansons. Je suis une grande fan de musique donc c'était très excitant pour moi!
3. Le fait que nous étions en mesure de savoir les pensées de tous les deux.
4. L'épilogue. Je l'ai adoré!
Je vais certainement lire d'autres livres par Colleen Hoover :) ...more

Colleen is easily one of my favorite authors hands down. Her unconventional characters and their crazy rollercoaster living lives gives me everything I need in a romance novel that touches my heart like no other stories have. This book was no exception. I loved this complicated mess of a relationship and I love the direction that the story went. I loved the dynamics of the characters and the emotion the story conjured up.
I didn't cry for this one, but it still made my heart grow. Great read! ...more

Je suis émerveillée par l'écriture de Colleen Hoover, par la beauté, la poésie et la douceur qu'elle insuffle à ses personnages. Je suis émue par ces situations qu'elle nous fait vivre, bref, je suis amoureuse de son style ...

Le sujet de départ est pourtant casse-gu**le, ce fameux triangle amoureux qui a tendance à faire fuir les lectrices à toutes jambes. Et pourtant .... Et pourtant, ce serait passer à côté d'une belle histoire, de toutes un *** 4.5/5 ***

Le sujet de départ est pourtant casse-gu**le, ce fameux triangle amoureux qui a tendance à faire fuir les lectrices à toutes jambes. Et pourtant .... Et pourtant, ce serait passer à côté d'une belle histoire, de toutes une palette d'émotions qu'on ne s'attend pas forcément à ressentir. Le récit est porté alternativement par Ridge (*_*) et Sidney, et je ne peux que souligner à quel point CoHo maîtrise cette alternance des POV, sans que ça soit artificiel ou bancal.

J'ai tout particulièrement préféré les passages où Ridge et Sidney écrivent les chansons, ces moments où les non-dits s'exposent dans une catharsis musicale, ces moments où le moindre regard, le moindre geste, le moindre mot et plus important encore, la moindre rature prend une dimension plus intimiste, plus réelle ... Ces passages sont bien évidemment magnifiés par la BO qui accompagne le livre, qui sublime le tout et qui m'ont fait retenir mon souffle jusqu'au dernier mot, jusqu'à la dernière note. Il ne faut vraiment pas passer à côté de ce bonus que nous offre l'auteur, car cela donne au livre une saveur et une dimension absolument incomparable.

Ridge est splendide, tout simplement. Il est beau dans tous les sens du terme, certaines de ses révélations m'ont coupé le souffle et donné des frissons, fait verser quelques larmes aussi. Sa singularité ne le rend que plus attachant, plus touchant. Sidney est un très beau personnage elle aussi, une jeune femme tout aussi sensible que l'est Ridge, elle n'est pas dans une situation facile et je trouve qu'elle la gère bien.

Et que dire de Warren ? Il se révèle avoir de multiples facettes, j'ai beaucoup apprécié son personnage, ses farces idiotes et son sens de l'amitié.

Il y a beaucoup de délicatesse, de douceur et de beauté dans Maybe Someday, je me suis vraiment sentie dans une bulle tout au long de ma lecture, je me suis laissée transporter, bercer du début à la fin ...
C'est le genre de livre qui nous fait passer du rire aux larmes en quelques pages, qui nous fait retenir notre souffle, un livre qu'on aime, tout simplement.

Je terminerai sur cette citation de Sidney, qui s'applique à merveille à ce que je ressens quand je lis, encore plus un livre aussi merveilleusement bien écrit que celui-ci...

However, there are infinite ways those twenty-six letters can make a person feel, and this song is living proof. I’ll never understand how a few simple words strung together can change a person, but this song, these words, are completely changing me.
