Must reading for today's political situation. The Obamanation demands a re-read of 1984, as Big Brother government seems to be reaching out again to control or own much of private businesses, and invade private lives. Can you get government Health Care in the future if you smoke, or obese, diabetic, have other conditions resulting in your bad choices. If you choose to not go Green, what will government do to you or prevent you from doing. ETC! Orwell's future vision looks like it may be getting ...more

Amazing!!!!! This man loves language so much so that he wrote a manifesto within the novel, and created a language that was concisely explained. I really resonated with his writing as a lover of language! His words were constructed beautifully and purposefully. He thought about everything he wrote and did it gracefully. His concepts were interesting and thought provoking. The book was set up in two parts for me; the first, setting up the world; the second, the story of Winston. I really loved wh ...more

The book was wery interesting. The concept behind the book was very unique and it's relation to real life scenarios was quite well. George Orwell had a very spot on way of "predicting" the future and "predicting the fututure" is used loosely because he really didn"t predict how society is. He just used facts given to him and based it off of that. ...more
