What Members Thought

Absolutely amazing.....I loved it! Wilkie Collins was vastly underrated. In my opinion, it's a must read for anyone who loves classics and has not yet read it.

I had never heard of this book before beginning to explore the classics this year. When I learned that it is considered the first mystery novel I was excited to read it and moved it up my list. I wanted to love this book. Unfortunately I found it to be slow and didn't find enough tension. However, I also believe that I will read it again in my future... giving it a second chance. I am questioning whether it was the book that failed to enchant me or whether I was failing to pay attention.

Abso-freaking-lutely awesome! This book had it all: intrigue, mystery, suspense, mistaken identities, clandestine meetings, an insane asylum, and dastardly motives. That's right, I said "dastardly"! Wilkie Collins may just be my new favorite author!! He combines brilliant plot lines with twists and turns that actually make sense when they are revealed, plus he mixes the right amount of humor and character description to breathe life into his characters and make them believable. It is told throug

This was such a lovely book, the writing is beautiful. It is quite predictable, but I didn't mind it.

A man is walking home one night. He feels a tap on his shoulder. It's a woman dressed in white. She asks for help in getting far away. Once he has her safely in a carriage and she is off, he finds out this woman has escaped from an Asylum.

This book was darn good. The Woman in White set the format of what a great mystery thriller should be and it's no wonder. It was perfect.

a great old title
For a book that was written in the 1800's, it is very well done. I liked the method of reading with different narrators from different points of view. I liked the mystery and the setting. On the downside, the last quarter of the book was very anti-climatic. It was way too long of a book to end so slowly. Still, the rest was worth the listen.

Awesome...and sooooo well written. But if you don't like words..you won't like it.
It is very very descriptive..which I love.
I enjoyed all the characters..all of them..the good, the bad, the crazy!
I think this is a classic...If it isn't ..it should be.
