I put off reading this book for years, sure I would be disappointed after hearing so many glowing reviews. My expectations were high and I wasn't sure how I would feel about a book so many others seemed to love. Luckily, this book followed through on its promise and I loved it. I remember that when I originally read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn 16 years ago, it didn't make much of an impression on me. Though I didn't remember the particulars of the story before I re-read it, I'm pretty sure I considered a lot of it boring since not much happens in it. But this time, I fell in love with it.
