Fitzgerald creates powerful images with his descriptive writing style. The plot is constructed well, especially towards the ending. Unfortunately, I didn't really care about the characters. They were just there, in the pages, doing nothing and making me feel nothing.

Maybe a good perspective read up to the 60's but quite out of date for our incredibly over-consumerised / capitalised / modern world today I think - an even more extreme form of what was being aluded to here.
The writing is very very good, but the storyline itself I feel has been duplicated already in much else since that it felt too familiar to the point of boring.
Am looking forward to the seeing the films on it & of course reading others' reviews.
