Switched to a paperback copy and I think it was my ego that helped me to finally finish this book. Now I can say that I have read Moby-Dick or, The Whale. Didn't like it at all -- I did enjoy In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex and Why Read Moby-Dick? by Nathaniel Philbrick. I would suggest reading those books and skipping Moby-Dick or, The Whale.
Oh, and I never found those best parts that many friends told me were coming. :(
