This modern classic is the tale of a young black woman living in California in the 1970s who time/space travels to the antebellum south and finds herself on a slave-holding farm in Maryland. She travels back and forth a number of times throughout the book and, at least one time is accompanied by her husband, who is white.

I have been meaning to read this book for a really long time. I finally decided to pick it up after watching the new TV series, which I thought was excellent, and I ended up reading the entire book in one day because I could not put it down. This is a really interesting book. I was familiar with the general premise even before I watched the show, but I had no idea how it would actually play out. I really enjoyed the time aspect- the way that time moved differently. And I also think this is one o ...more
