Did you think it would be any less than 5 stars. That's simply impossible, all the illustrations are awesome and they enhance the book's appeal and impact 100 fold. Jim Kay is also a magician just like J. K. Rowling and the proof is in the gorgeous drawings throughout the wonderful book. I am not going to talk about the story as 'come on do I say that aloud'. Story we all love and this edition improves on the story many a times.

Originally I couldn't get in to the book. It was college and I wasn't as adept as losing myself in my imagination as I had been once upon a time. Fast forward 10 years or so. I watched the movies and was able to get lost in the wizard world. So I thought I would give the books another chance. I couldn't put it down. Once again the ability to be transported to another world was alive and well inside me. I look forward to the rest of the books.

This was a pleasure to re-read. It felt like settling in with an old friend. I've updated my rating, because, while it is my least favorite of the series, it is the place where it all began. I love this series and can't wait to share it with my kids. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Somehow having a British edition as a gift makes this one better than the others. :)
