Love the writing. This is great classic horror.
Not the nasty slash & gore, but a creepiness that is written in and the suggestion of more.

Despite being one of Wells's lesser known works, The Island of Doctor Moreau has been adapted for the big screen multiple times. And for good reason: it's suspenseful and chilling while asking some big questions about human nature and the ethics of experimentation. Granted, the horror is quite tame by modern standards. Shipwrecked man is found and brought to an island filled with biological experiments. On the surface it is a story about man trying to survive this horror island filled half animal/half man creatures and the mad scientist who created them. Below the surface I think it is about religion, but i'm not sure yet and have to think more about it.

Wells is a great writer though and it was a good read.
