I'd not read a James Petterson book before but because he's he most read author in public libraries, I thought I'd give him a try.

Alex Cross is a detective and psychologist who is investigating some murders. Then there is a high profile kidnapping and he gets put on that case. There's an awful lot of twists and turns in this novel that are hard to predict. Very rarely does the reader get to the truth before the detective.
