This was just alright. I love a good tortured hero (Enoch's England's Perfect Hero is the tops on this for me), but this book just wasn't doing it for me. I was not at all invested in these characters. I think this is due, in large part, to the fact that there is approximately zero conflict in this book. Juliana doesn't even struggle internally with all of the changes thrown at her. She's just like, "Welp, he's my husband. Guess I'll deal." Lame.

I really enjoy all of Ashley's McBride books. They are well written and entertaining with memorable heroes and heroines. The Seduction of Elliot McBride is no exception. If you're looking for steamy, well written historical romance, this series is for you. ...more

Another very good, solid Mackenzie book from Jennifer Ashley. This was a story of redemption and it was well told. Looking forward to more of the Mackenzies in the future.

His family was aware something awful had happened to their younger brother. What Elliot endured during his captivity in India was horrific. So this story is about a man suffering from severe PTSD.

Both Juliana St. John and Elliot McBride had been attracted to

A solid, if unsuprising, romance featuring Ainsley's damaged brother Elliot and his childhood friend, now proper Juliana who's just been ditched at the altar. Their speedy marriage doesn't devolve into "oh, does he/she love me" woes, but rather Elliot's PTSD, Juliana trusting him when he thinks someone is after him, and more action than I expected. It seemed more about Elliot and less about the romance, which seemed taken for granted. The one weird thing for me was how Priti was (or more pointe ...more
