This is my favorite of the MacKenzie brothers books so far. Hart is the eldest and, therefore, the duke. He is hard and driven. He's had a difficult life. Their evil father used to beat him when he was younger. Alot of those beatings he took on behalf of his brothers. He has spent his life making sure they were safe and generally taking care of them.

This was a wonderful ending to the Clan Mackenzie series (although I know there are several related books upcoming). Eleanor Ramsey was once engaged to Hart Mackenzie, now the Duke, over a decade ago. But she broke the engagement and Hart continued in his life and his rise to power in English Parliament.

I was really really looking forward to this book, because I loved all the other ones in the series, especially the first one with Ian (I am actually getting ready to re-read that one. And I have loved Hart in all the books. This book was good......but it wasnt great. Maybe I had my hopes too high. That said I love Jennifer Ashley books and will read anything she puts out!
