I didn't expect to like this as much as I did. I'm not a fan of pirates and I didn't like Silence all that much based on her appearance in the earlier books.

I have been interested in Silence's story with Mickey O'Connor since Book 2 of this series (I have not read book 1, a mistake from my part but anyway...) and I must say I was not disappointed in this book.
I enjoyed it very much, the characters were very likable and 3 dimensional, especially Mickey who really did have a backstory as to why he was the person he was in this book and not just be the ruthless pirate he was just for the sake of the story. I very much enjoyed this book and felt it really moved the Maiden Lane storyline forward. Unfortunately, for some reason, I could not get into the romance between the river pirate Mickey O'Connor and orphanage manager Silence Hollingbrook. I think the issue was I just didn't like the two characters. I suspected this would happen as when I read about their characters in the previous Maiden Lane books so I wasn't really surprised I never really warmed up to the characters. I thought they both were

Scandalous Desires is book 3 (I think) on the Maiden Lane series.
You don't need to have read the earlier books to make sense of this one, but it will make you more fully appreciate the awesome talent of this author if you have.
