A friend gave me the 'House of Night' series (the first 4 books anyway) for me and possibly my daughter to read. She warned about one sexual aspect in particular, so I went after the books first. After reading, this book, Marked, is the most explicit. I'll be waiting until my daughter is a ways into high school before passing it on to her.

I thought this book was pretty good- it definitely picked up more in the second half for me. I had a bit of a hard time getting into it at the beginning. The Cherokee spirit thing didn't really draw me in, but when I learned about the special talents I understood why it was explained so much.

Insert a lot of teen angst and talk, mean girls and a love triangle and you have your story.

It's a light, simple book and a good read if you'

I liked this book. I was not thrilled with the swearing, (minus one star for that) but I suppose that it is set in high school, so there's bound to be some bad language. There were two "scenes" that were sexual in nature that were a bit ridiculous in my opinion (minus another star). They didn't need to be there. So, other than that the story is great and I really enjoyed the way it flowed. I'm going to continue with the series, and see what they bring. ...more
