A friend gave me the 'House of Night' series (the first 4 books anyway) for me and possibly my daughter to read. She warned about one sexual aspect in particular, so I went after the books first. After reading, this book, Marked, is the most explicit. I'll be waiting until my daughter is a ways into high school before passing it on to her.
The story itself was good, and I recommend it. In many ways the main character, Zoey, is a very typical teenager (more so than some other characters, like Bell ...more

I thought this book was pretty good- it definitely picked up more in the second half for me. I had a bit of a hard time getting into it at the beginning. The Cherokee spirit thing didn't really draw me in, but when I learned about the special talents I understood why it was explained so much.
I wasn't totally satisfied with the ending. One (maybe kinda two) big part(s) of the plot wasn't tied up for me at all, leading me wanting to take Zoey by the shoulders & say "remember this other problem(s) ...more

I liked this book. I was not thrilled with the swearing, (minus one star for that) but I suppose that it is set in high school, so there's bound to be some bad language. There were two "scenes" that were sexual in nature that were a bit ridiculous in my opinion (minus another star). They didn't need to be there. So, other than that the story is great and I really enjoyed the way it flowed. I'm going to continue with the series, and see what they bring.

Instead of a school for wizards....It's a school for vampires. I found the book very interesting.
