Chloe is such a good girl, gets good grades and finds life pretty okay so far. But when a death guy shows up at school, she flips, understandable and gets herself a one way ticket to Lyle House.

And at 15, all Chloe wants to do is fit in at school and maybe get a boy to notice her. But when a particularly violent ghost haunts her, she gets noticed for all the wrong reasons. Her seemingly crazed behaviour earns her a trip to Lyle House, a centre for ‘disturbed teens’. At first Chloe is determined to keep her head down. But then her room mate disappears after confessing she has a poltergeist, and some of the other patients also seem to be manifesting paranormal behaviour. Could that be a coincidence? Or is Lyle House not quite what it seems…? Chloe realizes that if she doesn’t uncover the truth, she could be destined for a lifetime in a psychiatric hospital. Or could her fate be even worse…? Review
The Summoning is Kelley Armstrong’s (author of The Otherworld Series) debut young adult series book. The teenagers in this book, live in the same universe as the characters in The Otherworld Series, but we get a younger perspective of the already familiar world.

I absolutely love Armstrong’s books and this one’s no different. Armstrong recaptured her writing style, but for a much younger audience. For those who have read the other novels in The Otherworld Series, you can step right back into this world where you know supernatural creatures exist and you can just go along for the ride as Chloe discovers that the world around her is not as “normal” as she thinks.

Chloe is a great character to read. I think she identifies with a majority of teenagers in the fact that she doesn’t feel like she fits with the “in crowd”. She is strong and independent and really spreads her wings when she finds out that it’s okay not to be “normal”.

This “coming of age” novel is very fast paced and fun for all ages. It was really great to see how these teens dealt with their powers at a critical point in their mental and physical developments… and I thought puberty was hard!

I highly recommend this book for all Kelley Armstrong’s fans and also for those who want to begin a journey into the world of the supernatural.

I'd considered starting this series for awhile but I just didn't get around to it before now.
I finally read book one The Summoning and I'm really happy that I did. It's a good book.

As it often is with a first book in a series there's a lot of background information and I felt that the first 2/3 of the book moved very slow, but the last 1/3 was great, really tense and with a lot of suspense.

What an awesome story!! Cloe, just a plain and simple girl, finds her world turns upside down when she freaks out at school and gets sent to a Home for disturbed teens. Little does she know, she finds out that she's not crazy, and that she is "special" by seeing ghosts..The adventure is great, the characters are troubled, but come together to work out their situation...

I would definately reccommend this book if you love YA books!!! ...more
