I would have given this 3.5 stars instead of 4. For me, this book didn't speak to me as much as Shiver did. Linger really lingered for me. It was slow moving and mildly entertaining. It starts out with Sam and Grace living their everyday lives when something happens to change their routine. From there they struggle just to see each other, while Isabel and Cole become closer. In the mist of the characters relationships, there are the wolves. She dives deeper into the "disease".

And in her second installment, Linger, she picks up right where Shiver left off. Only this time things are a little bit different, and there's a new wolf to contend with. Cole.
If Shiver was about hope, then I think Linger was about acceptance. Written in just as a beautiful a lyrical style as the first book, Maggie Stiefvater continues Grace and Sam's journey to understand themselves. Sam tries to come to grips with the reality that he is no longer a wolf and Grace deals with a cold, that turns ...more

I really enjoyed reading Shiver when I read it, so I was excited to finally get a copy of Linger to read.
I definitely enjoyed the first book more than this one, but it's still a really good read. I love Sam's character. He is just so complex, you have to love him. I also feel really bad for him at times. I really liked Isabella in this book too, a lot more than I liked her in the first book. She's really grown, and I like that she can get along with Grace now. The very first line says it all, "This is a story about a boy who used to be a wolf, and a girl who was turning into one." Grace and Sam are human together now, but Grace seems to be getter sicker and sicker with a mysterious fever and eventually nose bleeds that never end. Isabel runs into one of the new wolves after finding a dead one down by the lake and finally finds someone even more damaged than herself. Will the youth of Mercy Falls who live within the world of these mystical wolves be ab

Again with the tears! I wasn't expecting some of it and I love the addition of the new character....don't want to give anything away. I really liked the development of the relationships and once again, left hanging! I might die before we get the 3rd book.

I'll make this very simple - I started Linger yesterday and I finished Linger yesterday. It was ah-freaking-maze-ing. I stayed up late on a school night (yes I'm still in school during the summer) just because I didn't want to go to sleep without finishing it.
