What a super cute book, I mean it, a really apt mix of irony and tenderness and almost unforgettable characters. Some novels have the power to make me make peace with the world and maybe that's just what I needed right now.

A very sweet story of a diffident inspector of homes for young orphaned magical creatures. Linus Baker arrives at a very special orphanage to be both charmed and terrified by the children and the adult in charge of them.

4.5/5.0 - I love it when a book that I was unsure about turns out to be such a hit. Although this took me about 50 pages to get into, I soon found myself hooked. I loved the variety of characters, both children and adults, with their many talents and foibles. I loved to watch them grow and discover things about themselves. And the lessons of kindness and acceptance are themes we need to live by.
