Enjoyed this, even with the rather disturbing subject matter. However this may not be everyone's cup of tea. It is well presented, without being terribly graphic. She doesn't stint with being factual or presenting her own opinion** after presenting the subject in certain areas (polio is one example) but she doesn't do that through the whole book.

I enjoyed this morbid-fun read, especially the chapters on syphilis (scourge of "creative geniuses") and tuberculosis (which doesn't actually turn you into an angelic beauty, no matter what those Victorian novelists try to tell you). The author is often hilarious in her observations and snap-judgements--like about how John Snow of Broad Street Pump fame is a total square because he was a vegan before it was cool--and gives needed levity to an otherwise depressing topic.
