FRIGGING FANTASTIC. I've had a copy of this book for about 15 years but never read it as I had seen the movie so many times. I'm super glad that IFRIGGING FANTASTIC. I've had a copy of this book for about 15 years but never read it as I had seen the movie so many times. I'm super glad that I FINALLY took this one down off my shelf. I ate this book up in 1 day and it is as good as-if not better than- the Oscar winning film. Harris uses many different formats/narration styles in this novel and succeeds in getting readers to feel as though they're 'in the minds of' many of his characters despite never actually using 1st person narration. This story scratches many genre's itches. If you like any of the following in your book choices: horror, mysteries, thrillers, science, dramas, police/FBI serials, psychology, etc etc then this book will satisfy. Even if you have seen the film 100 times, this novel is still worth reading. The best book by Thomas Harris, IMO. Find it. Read it. Enjoy. --Jen from Quebec :0)...more

The huge hype surrounding the novel is no fault of the author, Ruth Ware, but of the readers that loved her previous works. Personally, I read this because it was a Group Read for a reading group I belong to, and because I enjoyed her previous novel, 'The Woman in Cabin 10'. Ultimately, in the end....I think that I enjoyed 'Woman in Cabin 10' more than this title. --Jen from Quebec :0)...more

I am a big fan of Ken Follett and wish that I had read this sooner, as I have owned a copy for a long time. Thanks to the Goodreads reading groups that made this their monthly read for Jan/Feb/March (YES- 3 of the groups I belong to have all picked this novel so far this year! A LOT of incentive!) Obviously, this is a huge book, a book of importance, one that is now dear to my heart and one that deserves multitudes of praises. However, at 5 AM on a Sunday, after a long, emotional book such as this one is finished, I am never able to write a proper review! I shall return to this space, (and also to the discussion threads of my reading groups), to give Follett his due. For now-WOW. Just WOW. --Jen from Quebec :0)...more
