One of the most disgusting books that were supposed to be iconic and just weren't. Or were. Nope, weren't.
(view spoiler)
They do a lot of shit for the fuck of it, just think of hiding a snake in a prosthetic leg.
I think it's about 2.5 stars. And I'm not gonna round it up.

This was headed to be a five star read for me. I liked the slow way the various mysteries unfolded - what happened to make Eric lose his mind, what the Wasp Favtory was, why Frank killed three people, what’s in the study... Another absurd book by the author of the Culture Cycle, which I already found not particularly understandable.
Frank, Eric, the father, and a whole other series of more or less strange protagonists and the story that unites them all. I will need a lot of time to digest a level of disgusting details that exceeded the threshold.

Hard to rate this book. After a promising start it rambled on much of the way at the expense of moving the plot forward, but such good writing and inventive ideas!
This was on a list of “edgy” books that I had requested from a “Your Next Read” service. It was well over the edge with violence and cruelty, but it had some hooks that kept me reading through to the end.
