Edit after a think - one star as a creepy gothic tale. It is far from that even though it uses the tropes.
4 stars if you are in it for analysis. It’s dry and slow but there is plenty to chew on if you desire.



THIS BOOK.
The cover and reviews say it is a creepy, classic gothic story. Yes, it is gothic - but the boring gothic that is obsessed with REPEATEDLY describing wallpaper, rather than the unsettling-and-moody gothic.

My edition was 510 pages long.
