Bernadette wouldn't like me. I'm an east-coast person who believes in treating other people equally. Being an "artist" does not give you an excuse to act like a self-centered jerk. Protagonist was supposed to be an "architect"? If I wanted to read a book about a supposed "architect" who is unpopular, unsympathetic, and just an all-around drag, I would've re-read The Fountainhead.

A woman who is an aggraphobe braves her fears by taking her daughter on a cruise to Antartica. Before the trip, she disappears. Her daughter, determined to find her, takes the trip to follow her. Through emails and letters, the daughter finds out her mother did take the trip but then disappeared. I liked the book. It wasn't a 5 star book. I also didn't find the humor in it. It is still a decent book.

I don't read a lot of contemporary books, so Where'd You Go Bernadette was a surprisingly good read. Bee is a fun and quirky teenager, but without being obnoxious. It's sometimes farcical, always comedic and slightly over the top.

Where'd You Go Bernadette is a quirky and enjoyable read. Very cleverly written and just plain fun! You do not need to know Seattle to enjoy this book.
