What Members Thought
There were several things that prevented me from loving this book. The audiobook narrator wasn't my favorite, but that's just my preference. Police detective or FBI agent main characters interest me more than other professions (including but not limited to medical examiners [though I really enjoyed Karin Slaughter's Grant County series], journalists, private detectives, lawyers or amateurs). This was a great thriller/mystery/whodunnit with a few issues that I will forgive as it was the author's first work of fiction.
My biggest problem with this book was the switch back & forth between French & English. I get that it takes place in Montreal & there is a huge population that only speak French in that region. However, I'm pretty sure that they could pick up the french version of the book...the rest of us can imagine the characters speaking in french just fine!

I'm not usually a huge fan of crime, but this... Wow. I loved reading this book. I read Virals first, enjoying the supernatural twist to the crimefighting. Then I figured I'd better get started on the "original" series too, and I did. I hadn't seen the TV Show, or not watched it at any rate, before reading this book.
