I was SO hoping for this one to be a 4 or 5 star read for me. Especially since the first in the series was a 3 star. Most of my issues with the first novel were NOT resolved in the second one. And the story itself (the Scorch Trials) was not quite as compelling as the one in the Maze Runner. That was disappointing. I will say that James Dashner does do a good job of making the reader want to keep reading, even with the material itself isn't particularly compelling. I still want to know what happ ...more

My rating would be more like 3 1/2, but I don't have that option here.

I remember being really frustrated with the lack of information we were given in The Maze Runner. The Scorch Trials was, if possible, even more frustrating. I'm getting awfully tired of every single thing being so mysterious, especially after two full books. I feel like we should have some answers by now.

This is an action packed story with one thing after another after another happening. There is hardly time to catch your brea

I started reading this series for the fact the bookclub at school (which I help run) will undoubtedly be talking about this series and seeing the movies, but I've actually given up. Which nearly never happens. We're talking like 0.001%. I've never thrown a book across the room or at a wall. I've finished horrible things, but I have someone lovely who really does talk me out of doing terrible things to my brain.

I made it halfway through book two, and my opinions haven't changed in the slightest.

3.5 stars. It's depressing to read about the heat and hunger and betrayal. 2 books and 730 pages later and I still don't know what is going on. I want to be tired of it and just stop reading, but I have to know what it's all about and I will read The Death Cure, but it better have all the answers.

With-reservations:
injuries and death

This really was 5 stars. I loved that every page I was like "What? No way!" With the temperature exceeding 105 last week, at times the scorch trials were a little too realistic, but it was a fantastic dystopian novel. Can't wait for the third book in the Fall. ...more

Another incredibly well imagined and written dystopian world! Exciting and mysterious and frankly a little scary. I loved the entire series.
