I have to admit that I was wary of this book after the first few chapters. There were a lot of parallels to Twilight that had me a little skeptical. The heroine, Evie, is the popular girl at school who just returned from a summer at a psychiatric hospital and is ready for her first day back to school. A new bridge across the bayou brings a group of motorcycle riding, smoking, drinking, criminal looking Cajuns from the other side of the bayou to enroll in her school. I am so torn over how I feel.

I think I wanted to like it both more and less than I did? I keep going back and forth with how I feel, so I will go with middle of the road.

It's a YA series by an author whose adult series books I love, but she has gotten me to expect things so it was frustrating when a scene would go more...fluff than unf. haha.

It took me forever to make it through this book but that was life stepping in and not this book. I was a little freaked out about the Bagmen 😆 🤣 because I'm a wimp and I thought it was scary and I don't love being scared but it wasn't a book I liked reading at night 😅 (SEE A TOTAL WIMP)

I'm looking forward to the next book. The way this book ended was so SO good and it was such a wow ending. I'm really hoping Jackson and Evie finally get together or something happens.

I'm so happy this series was

I'm so torn on this novel. It sounded like it had a lot of potential. And when I first started I thought the writing was phenomenal, thus how could this possible be a bad read. And I honestly think that's what saved this story from a one star rating.

While the writing was great, there was too many extra things that were added that didn't seem to be needed. This caused the story to move extremely slow. I finally got to page 189 and got tired of it taking forever to get anywhere. However I did want
