Shelves: paranormal, mystery, girl-power, challenged, series, with-reservations, fantasy, adult, mixed-reviews, romance

3.5 stars. Good but not great. I will continue the series, but though I like Charley Davidson, her sexy mystery man, her best friend Cookie and the snarky dialogue, I'm not compelled to rush out and read the next book. Premise is great, it just wasn't as good as it could've been.

A funny, full of thrills book is this! I love Charley Davidson's character and how she handles the ups and downs of being a reaper. There are the dead she helps cross over, some are ready and some not so much. Three need her help with the why so they can move on.

Luckily, Charley is a PI as well as the reaper, so she has the mad skills to git'r'done.

There's a next door neighbor who is her bud, ghosts a plenty not ready to move on and love to mess with her.

I wasn't sure how I was going to take to this debut novel. Especially, since the main character, Charley Davidson, is a P.I. that sees dead people, or more accurately, a grim reaper. As soon as I started reading however, I couldn't put the book down. The main character is quick-witted and stubborn in her antics and the crazy situations she got herself into really kind reminded me of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum character. Overall, it is a quick, fun read. I can't wait for the next two books ...more
