SHORT REVIEW: This is the touching story of a shy teenager who finds love and confidence by becoming a goth, but by the end, realizes that subculture isn't everything.

LONG REVIEW: Wow. I'm honestly shocked that this has such a high average rating.

A part of me struggles with giving this one star, which puts it on par with Fifty Shades of Grey and Marked, as far as my personal ratings go. But when I look at the books I gave two stars, the more I realize that it deserves only one. Two stars implies ...more

Well, I have finally finished one of the most successful young adult books of recent history, and I honestly couldn't be happier. Although often compared to "Hunger Games," this is a book that deserves its own special spotlight. It is the first in a series, and I am glad I read it before the movie comes out.

The book is extremely well wriitten. The story flows well and I was immediately sucked into the action. My first criticism was that it felt a lot like The Hunger Games Trilogy Boxset . It has a lot of similar elements- but then I reminded myself I like to read paranormal romance so reading books that at first glance appear to be clones of each other is nothing new to me.
