This is it! The first appearance of the most famous Belgian in history (or at least the most famous Belgian I've ever heard of). The first appearance of Captain Hastings and (Chief) Inspector Japp. A good old-fashioned country house mystery, Hastings is basically the reader. He has access to all the clues, but does not make all the right deductions.

I basically read mysteries because I like the journey and the justice at the end, not because I actually expect to be able to SOLVE it. And, of cours ...more
