I loved the author's book The Flatshare and I thought the premise of this book sounded fun and interesting as well. It was, and I really enjoyed it. I liked how the story was told with flashbacks and seeing the way the story unfolded in the present, as we discover what happened in the past. It was all very mysterious!

This is a tricky book to review. I hate to compare it with Beth O'Leary's previous books, but I guess that's inevitable.

The book started out well, but it got less and less likeable once we got to know the characters. Dylan and Addie were too young and immature when their relationship started and the 'then' scenes of their time together just got more and more dysfunctional. With that being the case, why would we want them to get back together?

This was a satisfying romance/road trip novel. It took a while to get into the characters as a romantic couple as it came out a bit angsty at first. The couple's emotional baggage really got in the way of the plot.
