What Members Thought
I am sad to say Emily Henry's books are not working for me anymore. Her books prior to Happy Place were all 5 star reads for me. Although Funny Story started strong, I started to get bored after the midway point. Daphne and Miles' relationships with their parents were uninteresting, Daphne's relationship with Ashleigh also fell flat for me. I was relieved when I finally got to the last page.

I think Emily Henry's books just get better and better. She's going to be an auto by for me from here on out. I love how her books bring me all the feelings.
I started off disgusted with Peter for being a jerk and doing what he did to Daphne. I loved Daphne the whole way through the book. Miles was perfect and sweet and I love that he really enjoyed Daphne's company and always put her first. I have read and enjoyed other Emily Henry books, but this is now my favorite - mainly because there more realism here than in her other books, which always require a rather big suspension of belief. Librarian Daphne moves to her fiance's hometown and plans the perfect wedding. And things are great, right up until the fiance announces he's really in love with Petra, his best friend from childhood - a woman whom he has sworn he never had feelings for. I wanted to like this book more but more than half of the book I was worried I wouldn't believe the MMC will actually fall for the FMC, but once I got over that worry I realised that... maybe I am the one not in love with our FMC.
This book had potential to be very funny, if only it embraced the fake dating trope a bit more - that scene at the winery when Daphne is there with Ashleigh was a lot of fun. And to be fair (view spoiler) ...more
