This book. WOW! If I'd known that one of its central themes is gaming, I don't think I would have read it, but I'm so glad I didn't know. The friendship between Sam and Sadie had me right from the beginning. I learned an appreciation for gaming and Zevin wove it into the narrative in such a meaningful way. You will feel all the emotions - anger, happiness, frustration, despair and you will love Sam, Sadie, and Marks as much as they love each other. You have to read this book.

It is too soon for this to truly fall under the definition of historical fiction, and yet it's such a great homage to the 90s, I feel like it should count! If somehow you haven't seen this book everywhere, it's a story of three (GR description says two but come on it's definitely three) best friends in college in the 90s who team up to design video games.
