Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor , for me, was like…
...A homemade chocolate chip cookie accompanied by a cup of mocha with the right blend of roasted coffee and warm, smooth chocolate. All this, enjoyed sitting looking out at the harbour, with the sea breeze on my face, and the fresh scents of the air after a rain. I see a beautiful rainbow against the blue sky, and spy the dark storm clouds, which had just passed by, away in the distance. I ...more

Whenever I was reading some of Lisa Kleypas’ works, I was always reading her historical romance novels. Well, I just stumbled upon not only her most recent novel to date, but the first contemporary romance novel I have read from her and it is called “Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor.” Be prepared to see Lisa Kleypas’ romantic world contemporary style!

Another beautiful story by Lisa Kleypas. About love, loss, and finding your way past the grief to live your life once again.
Kleypas has once again tackled a difficult subject in one of her contemporaries and done so in an eloquent way.
"I understand, Maggie wanted to tell her. I've lost someone too. And there were no rules for how to deal with the death of someone you loved. You had to accept that the loss would always stay with you, like a reminder note pinned to the inside of your jacket. But ...more

It was OK for what it was. Saccharine sweet, predictable, and it ended all a bit too abruptly, but for pure escapism without having to think (at all), it fit the bill. Certainly not my kind of thing, but sometimes reading the genres you don't like that much helps you to appreciate the ones you do...

So cute! I absolutely love Lisa Kleypas! Although this was a shorter book I thought it worked really well. Although if there was more I wouldn't have complained.
I could have used a little more background information on the Nolan family. Even a prologue explaining some of the stuff they went through.
Holly was great! What a sweet little girl. Mark, Sam and Alex were lucky to have her in their lives.
I'm really glad that LK is writing more in this series. I'm hoping they will be full length becaus ...more

Absolutely loved this book. I will always see this stories image of Thanksgiving dinner when I think of Thanksgiving and turkeys.

Mark has gained custody of his five year old niece upon the death of his sister. He’s a single man who knows next to nothing about children, so he moves them into his brother’s house, who also nothings nothing about children, for the extra help that provides.
Holly, his niece, has withdrawn into herself since her mother died, and has not spoken a single word in about six months. So a trip to the local toy store was not when Mark would have expected it to happen. This local toy store is owned and ...more

I am a HUGE Lisa Kleypas fan and have yet to find a book of hers I didn't enjoy. While I did love this one, I have to say I do have a few issues with it. For starters, it wasn't long enough!!! And while it was a very heartwarming and emotional story(I found myself tearing up a couple of times), I wish it would have been centered around Christmas more. The book starts in September and only til the very end, does it get to Christmas. I feel like it was lacking that Christmassy feel. Then again, it
