I really enjoyed this book. It was a good solid read. I really got invested in the characters and some of the scenes were downright funny. The women in the book had good heads on their shoulders and the men made seriously bad decisions. I loved how the family really stuck together.

Though they did have birth control in the 1980s. Just saying.

This was my first TJR book and I was talked into trying this due to a very avid fan base in a Facebook group. And I’m SO glad I gave this a try.

I was mildly interested in the story based on the blurb. Family drama, maybe something suspenseful with the fire, idk we’ll check it out. I’ve read books with way worse premises.

But this family grabbed hold of me in ways I didn’t expect. Three generations of parental failures and triumphs, told in beautiful prose weaving it all together to culminate in
