Wow. This book! I'm so glad that I found S.A. Cosby's work ... I'm from Richmond, Virginia so it was particularly exciting when I read that he was from Virginia & this book did a great job of capturing the complexities of Virginia & Virginians. This book is not for everyone - very dark, disturbing, and VIOLENT. If that's not for you, skip this one. But, if you can handle that, I highly recommend it. NO SPOILERS REVIEW

I had no idea what to expect when I decided to take a chance on this new-to-me-author. The book was getting lots of buzz – and most were rave reviews that pushed me into one-clicking. I’m glad I went for it. I would classify this book as an intensely high-stakes novel.

Everyone seemed to love this book, but I thought it was too similar to Blacktop Wasteland. Predicted the ending 3/4 of the way through. Seemed like stereotypical characters. Ugh the similes were annoying!

Ok, I was perhaps just *slightly* disappointed by this one, but my expectations were also super high because I loved Blacktop Wasteland so much. This was still exciting and well-written, I just didn't love it quite as much.
