It’s hard not to assume this book is like T.H.U.G. but it’s definitely not. I’m so glad I picked it up anyway. The young black male perspective is extremely unique and very necessary when having this conversation of race and class. Justyce was such a likable and realistic character. He does well in school and strives to get ahead, but he’s no punk either. I’ve been on a break from YA but there are some very adult, very real themes in this book.
