This book reminds me of a less funny, but better written Magyk. It probably deserves a better rating, but I just didn't like any of the characters, so I couldn't do it.

I will listen to the next book to see what happens. I'm glad I listened to this book rather than read it.

A great young adult/young readers book. It has a coming of age story about a young magician trying to make his way in the world of more important/well known magicians, and trying to balance what is most important and aspiring for acknowledgment. A great book for all, but I think boys would love it.

Entah berapa kali rasanya gw pengen jitak Nathaniel krn kelakuannya yg arogan tapi naif itu. Tapi yah krn kelakuannya itu yg bikin kita kenal Bartimaeus jadi bisa lah si Nathaniel gw maafkan.

Reading it again. So funny. Nathaniel is a character you can empathise with and Bartimaeus is hilarious. Stroud is so good making you feel like you are really there. Feel like I am really on a train platform when I read: The train limped off as if it were going to die under a hedge. I can hear it and smell it. And it made me laugh.
