Not bad for a YA book. I thought the magic system was interesting and I liked the main character. She was smart and independent which I like in a lady protagonist, and the author had good believable reasons for her character to make her decisions, good and bad. There were some twists that didn't twist in the direction I expected, and the climax was interesting and satisfying, with a pretty decent wrapup.
