After the runaway success of The Martian, it would have been easy for Andy Weir to publish his grocery list and have it race to the top of the bestseller list.

Instead, Weir made fans wait what seemed like an eternity for his sophomore effort, Artemis. Good things come to those who wait.

While not as immediately engaging as The Martian, Weir’s Artemis avoids a sophomore slump by delivering an entirely new narrator and story. Set in the near future, Artemis introduces us to Jazz, a citizen of the

I enjoyed this book a lot and it's safe to say Andy Weir is now on my auto-buy author list. For me this is book was entertaining un a dorky sort of way, mainly because I love th techy side of the plot, the wicked plans Jazz concocted and the bravery she showed in all stances. I don't doubt her humour could annoy people, but I actually thought it fitting in a way. She is definitely not your "common" woman, but a smuggler girl leaving in a city on the moon since she was 6 year old. Her relationshi ...more

This is very different from Weir's other stories. I went in with an open mind, thanks to other reviews. And I'm glad I did. Jazz wasn't my favorite character. There were a few weird points and it definitely felt like a guy writing a girl character, but all in all, I didn't have huge issues.

The science was thick a few times and I definitely wanted to skim a few sections but didn't and it helped to try to understand why they were smelting or burning certain areas. But the plot is a bit convoluted

I haven't read the Martian, but when I heard this was to be a heist on the moon, I was interested. I read this in a marathon session in one day, its release day, and really enjoyed Jazz's character. While there is room for more story or something else, this was a nice slice of life. I enjoyed the idea of this, but feel like it got too 'case closed' in the end. ...more

I had read a lot of bad reviews for this book and I thought to myself that it can't possibly be as bad as people are making it out to be! I started the book and initially it was mostly okay, I was invested in the story, Jazz was a bit weirdly characterized but even this didn't rub me the wrong way too much. Then as it went on it was just more of the same when it came to the plot, things started making less sense and Jazz started to become quit irritating and one dimensional.

I'm sure women like
