Monster

5.5 stars!!!

“You do not write your life with words...You write it with actions. What you think is not important. It is only important what you do.”

Alright, I had actually been hearing about Patrick Ness’ hit book “A Monster Calls” for many years and I have been trying to read it ever since, but I never had the time to! Now, I finally got the chance to read this book (especially after the movie has been released) and oh man, you will be both shocked and crying after you get through with this

This was heartbreaking story. It took me rather long from start to finish because I could only read it in small parts, the ache in my heart would get so strong that each time it would make me have pause.

This book was emotionally manipulative. This book had some big eye-rolling cliches. However, I still pretty much read it one day and ended with ugly crying, so that takes some talented writing abilities.

Connor a boy that feels guilty over something that's not under his control. He's been bullied in school, teachers let him get away with everything due that his mom is sick. With his friend he doesn't talk to anymore due she told his business. A monster comes to visit him. The monster tells Connor 3 stories only for Connor to tell the monster his story.
Great story, emotional rollercoaster.

This was a story we all experience. I could barely finish it through the tears. This was a read for one of my groups, and I'm grateful, because I might have missed it otherwise. Short and powerful, this book is a must add to your reading list. ...more

This book was heavy so at points it was hard to get through because it is a tough topic. It made me cry which I always think is a sign of a book that has drawn me in!

Wow!

This book touched my heart. I could barely finish it through the tears.
We all experience some version of this story, the fear, the terrible waiting.
Make time for this short, but powerful read.

wow, Patrick Ness doesn't hold any punches back. Since "Knife of Never Letting Go", I've had a bit of a fan girl crush on his writing, his story and his worlds. And this book DOES NOT disappoint.

Another amazing story about a boy and his demons. I just kept thinking of that saying

"When you look into the abyss, the abyss also looks into you"

And the monsters in our nightmares - may not be the monsters we think they are.
