I really enjoyed this grand science fiction classic. The world building was incredible, both the environment of the planet as well as the political and cultural aspects of the world. Although I liked the story and the characters, the book dragged a bit at the beginning for me and some interesting characters were introduced and then they dropped away never to appear again (perhaps they will reappear in the later books in the series). This book was just kind of okay. It also felt like it lasted forever and I found myself just wanting it to be over and done. I have no interest in continuing on with this series.
That felt like a chore.
