This was my second time reading Dracula. The first time I read it, in 2011, I loved it. A second reading made me love it even more, if that’s possible. A five star book if I ever read one.
There are so many things that I love about Dracula that I don’t really know where to begin. I think the fact that it’s written entirely in journal entries, letters, newspaper articles and the like, is fascinating. It gives you a very deep view into the thoughts of the characters. Wow! I am actually amazed at how good this story was. I was drawn into it from the first pages and always looked forward to getting back to it. Considering how many vampire stories we are surrounded by today, it's fun to read the "original." The tale of Jonathan and Mina Harker and their friends and their battle with the bloodthirsty (literally, of course) Count Dracula is wonderfully engaging. What an amazing novel! I read an abridged version when I was younger and I loved it, but now I wanted to read the unabridged version. It was even better! Plus, my husband bought me an edition with illustrations, which made it all the more enjoyable. I can't wait until my little boy is old enough to read it together. The plotlines is amazing, especially when it is all told through letters and journal entries. So much better than all of the YA vampire fluff that is out there. No one comes close to
