This is a great book. It brings homosexual relationships into a healthy and accessible light. It shows how homosexual and heterosexual love are basically the same. It's just semantics. The parents are all wonderful. The teens are well thought out.
Many of the things that happen are things that would happen in real life. I could totally visualize this high school. I loved how Simon had many more supporters than he realized. Who knew? This book WAS set in Georgia, where I figured he'd be strung up ...more

This book is very fast pace and I like it, but at the same time, the love story is a slow burner. You see how the love flourish little by little with each mail that Simon & Blue fall in love. Love the friendships and the family relationships are strong and how they accept sexuality of the boys.
It is a book that touches a lot of themes that are important to show them in young adult books. Themes like drinking underage, driving, and drinking and the social media and the way to use them.

I absolutely loved this book! It was sweet, funny, and real. The drama between the characters was right out of a suburban, American high school. Simon's hesitation and worry over coming out, as well as the consequences and other characters reactions to him were all utterly believable and the ends were tied up nicely. (Maybe a bit too nicely, but happy endings are kind of nice to have sometimes!)
