What Members Thought

This is a book I probably would not have picked up if I had seen in the bookstore or the library. I read it because it was voted as the best historical fiction on goodreads.
All I can say is thank goodness I read it. The story from the first page kept me entranced and I wanted to read it all in one sitting. Powerful emotions and imagery throughout the story.

Touching, marvelous and unputdownable. I was torn in the end, I don't want to give any spoilers though. The character of Isabelle was made out of so much suffering and so much battling.

I know it's good when a book makes me cry unexpectedly. It's a ww2 book so crying may often be expected by most (myself included), but it's not something I expected this time for myself. Yet, this book caught me off guard just when I had thought I couldn't possibly shed more tears for the events of ww2.
