trying to make Oz modern does not work, Fairy Tales are not real! this is for people who do not really read real fantasies.
I had no preconceptions when I started this book, but even so I was surprised at the scope of the journey I traveled to get to the expected end of the story. In this version of the Wicked Witch of the West, Gregory Maguire explores the following question: "One never learns how the witch became wicked, or whether that was the right choice for her - is it ever the right choice?"
