I knew how it would end after she woke up alone. I thought this was going to have a shocking ending, something completely unexpected. The reviews were glowing.

The book was predictable from beginning to end. There wasn't a shadow of doubt in my mind what would happen, which I would share but I've always promised spoiler-free reviews. How it happened was disappointing. Lockhart made a lazy plot decision. Too easy, to trite, too boring.

I had not expected this book to be as great as it was, but I was so impressed by it. The atmosphere which is created throughout, both because of the voice, the banter and discussion between the characters and the short sentences and rapid-fire paragraphs was exceptional. There was a chill across the whole story, and the ending - the twist - was so completely unexpected that I felt a physical jolt when I read it. I wish I could give it 4.5 stars as the only tiny thing that let it down was the ver ...more

Super quick and easy read.

The best part was the huge twist at the end that I didn't see coming.

Well crafted story

This is the story of a dysfunctional family. I didn’t predict the ending at all. I enjoyed the story overall but the ending left me sad and unsatisfied. I’m just not sure what to think of it.

This is one of my airport books. I bought it in Dublin and it kept me company through my ~6 hour wait in terminal 2. I finished about 3/4 of it there, then had a break of a day and finally read the rest at the breakfast table this morning.

It was an interesting, gripping read. Not too complicated for my sleepy brain and I could sympathise with the main character and her (view spoiler) to a certain extent (view spoiler)

Fantastic book full of colorful, descriptive writing, lots of teen angst coping with adult drama, and awkward teen conversations. It made me think back to high school/college and summer trips. Some reviews complained about the choppy sentence writing, but if you read it at the pace of a teen talking out loud to you, insert the pauses and sighs and deep thought, it actually makes sense. I wonder how it would come across in an audio book? Anyways, incredibly well written, but the ending blew my mi ...more
