This book totally took me by surprise. I guess given the cover I thought this would be a light, fluffy book about rich people (who own islands lol) with rich people problems. It may start off that way, but it's also about the next generation of rich kids that want something else for themselves and how to find freedom and independence from a exhausting, stifling and sometime immoral upbringing. I liked this book despite not really enjoying the audiobook experience. It's not that the reader was bad, it's just that I don't think this book translate well into audio, simply because going back and forth between scenes and time made listening to it on audio very confusing.

It took me a long time to get into this book. Yes, I was curious about what happened to Cadence, but I didn't really like her or the other characters which made it hard to care. By the end of the book, though, I was thoroughly invested. ...more
